Midlife Crisis for Mid-size companies

Economic times has this article, where it raised a good question by and large.

Does mid-sized companies facing mid-life crisis?

This report says, top tier companies are doing great, posting market-beating results. But, the mid-sized companies are facing the 'mid level talent' problem, where most of the managers are shifting to MNCs or bigger players.

I am a firm beliver of leadership develop programs within the company. Companies need to groom people. Typically, with all its disadvantages, having two separate tracks of technical and non-technical streams help to groom correct people.

Having top leve technical knowledge is not enough, mid level managers with business focus is the need of the this knowledge economy.

This is purely my view, no offence intended
Midsize companies are facing this crisis and will continue to face this cris due to several factors.
1.Lack of career path for employees and training
2.Absence of HR except organizing cultural activities, and creating basic minimum employee policies.
3.Absence of role model in company

Above items need investment and bear fruit in long term, but mid size companies don't want invest, the recent trend here seen is to "hire employees from outside", may be a ceo, delivery head or a program manager, these companies want quick result, quick growth and want to copy the large companies business model without a strong focus on employee development and leadership.
